About Us

About Us Today, the Chembur Club is a well-known entity in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. Known for its social, cultural and religious activities, the Club initiated its journey decades back and this year completes sixty years of its existence. In the beginning, it hardly possessed any material resources except the boundless zeal and enthusiasm of a handful of founder members to fulfil a dream. The dream was to form an organisation to serve as a platform to carry-out socio-cultural and religious activities for the local community. To give shape to this cherished dream, on August 18, 1963, seventeen founder members constituted a Preparatory Committee. During the 1st meeting held on September 22, 1963, the name of Chembur Club was adopted under which the cherished activities would be carried out.

On November 13, 1963 the Chembur Club was registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Act XXI of 1860). Following this, the Club carried-out a number of fund-raising drives to purchase a piece of land and to construct a building along with a temple complex. Finally, with the relentless efforts by the founder members and the cooperation of the local community, a five-storied Club premises with a temple complex in the ground-floor was constructed in 2002. Presently, all the major activities of the Club are carried out in this building.
